Welcome to the Atelier
Atelier Macleod began long before the first garment was made.
When I was sixteen, I found a blazer in a vintage shop.
I noticed the sleeve first.
From the other side of the room, I could already tell it was special.
The fabric was soft and black with gold and copper detailing woven through it. It was confident without being loud. Unique without asking for attention. When I tried it on and it fit perfectly, I was completely sold.
Not because it was fashionable.
Because of how it made me feel.
That blazer has stayed with me for years and, in many ways, planted the seed for Atelier Macleod.
Fashion has the power to make us feel more like ourselves.
The right garment doesn't transform us into someone else. It reminds us who we already are.
As I grew older and entered the fashion industry, I discovered another side of the story. Behind the beautiful clothing was an enormous amount of waste, much of it created by a system moving faster than people were ever meant to consume.
For years, I spent time in textile recycling centres, speaking with the people working on the front line of the UK's clothing waste problem.
The experience was inspiring, frustrating and eye-opening all at once.
I saw mountains of garments being discarded on a daily basis. I saw how difficult it had become to recycle modern clothing. And I became convinced that we needed a different approach.
Not one built around guilt.
One built around creativity.
Because creativity changes everything.
A second-hand shirt becomes a new design.
A forgotten piece of fabric becomes somebody's favourite garment.
A beginner learns to sew and starts seeing clothing differently forever.
That's the magic that keeps me coming back.
Today, Atelier Macleod is part womenswear brand, part workshop and part creative studio.
It's a place for people who want to understand fashion more deeply, develop practical skills, and build wardrobes that feel intentional rather than impulsive.
It's also a reminder that beautiful things can come from unexpected places.
Whether you're here to shop, learn to sew, explore upcycling or simply spend time with like-minded people, you're very welcome.
Pull up a chair.
The kettle's probably on.
